The Art Of Sharon J Roe

I was born
in a small town in upstate New York to a family of 10 (yes Catholic). As a child I began
to put my feelings, as images, into art. I discovered that this was an exciting
way to save my thoughts. My teachers in habit, however, felt differently and sent me to
countless afternoons of detention (Yes Catholic School).
As I
got older I found my love of art would overpower everything. Creating art was no
longer a leisure pursuit but
a necessity. My artwork has been
sold in many corners of the country, shown in magazines, art shows, and used in
classroom studies. I am now illustrating a children's book
for publication.
I have tried most forms of art but
find graphite drawing to be
the most rewarding because
of the detail I can achieve.
Humor has been
a release valve for me and is evident in some of my work. My cartoon drawings
come out of the many hysterical hours with friends and events that put an image
in my mind that simply must be
put on paper. I was not going to include them in the website but
a special request changed my mind.
I have felt a
deep love of the arts for as long as I can remember. I find a drawing
in every face I see, and every
emotion I feel. When these feelings connect with
the canvas the rewards are endless. I know that creating art is the best
way of displaying the inner thoughts of the mind.
